Last updated: April 5, 2026

1. Overview

WatEase ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and giving you control over your personal data. In accordance with Meta Platform policies, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable, you have the right to request deletion of the data we have collected about you through Instagram and Facebook Messenger integrations.

This page explains what data we collect, how to request its deletion, and what happens after you submit a request.

2. Data We Collect via Meta Platforms

When you interact with a business that uses WatEase through Instagram Direct Messages or Facebook Messenger, we may collect and store the following data:

2.1 Instagram Data

  • Instagram Scoped ID (IGSID): Your unique identifier within the business's Instagram account
  • Messages: Text messages, media (images, videos, audio), and story replies you send to the business
  • Reactions: Emoji reactions you add to messages
  • Conversation metadata: Timestamps, read receipts, and delivery status
  • Opt-in tokens: Recurring notification preferences, if you opted in

2.2 Facebook Messenger Data

  • Page-Scoped ID (PSID): Your unique identifier within the business's Facebook Page
  • Messages: Text messages, media attachments, and postback actions you send
  • Profile information: Name and profile picture as provided by Facebook
  • Conversation metadata: Timestamps, read receipts, and delivery status

2.3 WhatsApp Business Platform Data

  • WhatsApp Business Account ID (WABA ID): Identifier of the connected business account
  • Phone number ID + display number: The business phone number used for messaging
  • Inbound + outbound messages: Text, template, media (images, video, audio, documents), interactive button replies, and reactions exchanged with the business
  • Contact metadata: Customer phone numbers and WhatsApp profile names where shared by Meta
  • Webhook events: Delivery / read receipts, template approval status, quality-rating updates, account alerts received from Meta's webhook subscription
  • Facebook user_id of the connector: Captured during Embedded Signup so we can honor the Deauthorize and Data Deletion callbacks

Note: We do not collect your Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp password, friend lists, posts, or any data beyond what is shared through direct messaging with the business.

3. How to Request Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data through any of the following methods:

1Through Facebook or Instagram Settings (Automatic)

When you remove our app from your Facebook or Instagram account, Meta automatically sends us a data deletion request. Here's how:

For Facebook:

  1. Go to your Facebook Settings & Privacy > Settings
  2. Click Apps and Websites in the left sidebar
  3. Find WatEase in the list of active apps
  4. Click Remove next to WatEase
  5. Check the box for "Delete all posts, photos, and videos on Facebook that WatEase may have published on your behalf"
  6. Click Remove to confirm

For Instagram:

  1. Go to your Instagram Settings > Security > Apps and Websites
  2. Find WatEase under the Active tab
  3. Tap Remove next to WatEase
  4. Confirm the removal

For WhatsApp Business:

  1. Open Facebook > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Business Integrations
  2. Find WatEase in the list
  3. Click View and edit, then Remove
  4. Confirm the removal — Meta delivers a signed Deauthorize request to /api/v1/whatsapp/deauthorize-callback and (if you also asked for data deletion) a Data Deletion request to /api/v1/whatsapp/deletion-callback
  5. You can also disconnect from inside the app: Settings > Integrations > WhatsApp > Disconnect

After removal, Meta sends us a signed deletion request (HMAC-SHA256). We HMAC-verify, log an audit event, and respond with a confirmation_code + status URL. Cleanup runs asynchronously across all channels owned by your Facebook user_id (WhatsApp accounts, Instagram conversations, Messenger messages).

2Via Email (Manual Request)

Send an email to our data protection team with the subject line "Data Deletion Request":

Include:

  • Your Instagram username or Facebook profile link
  • The business name you interacted with
  • A brief description of your request
