Template Pacing
A Meta safeguard that delivers a new or edited marketing template to a small slice of its audience first, holding the rest until early feedback confirms users aren't blocking or reporting it.

Definition
Template pacing is Meta's staged-rollout mechanism for Marketing templates. When a newly created or recently edited marketing template is sent at volume, Meta initially delivers it to only a portion of the target audience and holds the remainder in a paused state while it measures early negative feedback — blocks, reports, and quality signals — over a short evaluation window. If feedback is healthy, the held messages release automatically and future sends flow normally. If feedback is poor, Meta pauses the template (temporarily at first, with escalating durations for repeat offences) before it can damage the audience at full scale, and notifies the WABA. Pacing protects both users and the sender's phone-number quality rating, acting as a circuit breaker ahead of the blunter instrument of tier downgrades.
How it applies in India
Indian merchants most often meet pacing during festival-campaign crunches: a brand-new Diwali template fired at a 100,000-contact list will partially deliver, then pause if early recipients block it. The operational fix is to soft-launch new marketing templates to an engaged segment a day early, confirm healthy feedback, then scale — exactly the staged behaviour pacing enforces anyway. WatEase surfaces paced/held message states in campaign analytics so a paused template is distinguishable from delivery failure.
Frequently asked questions
Why did only part of my broadcast deliver immediately?
If the template is new or recently edited, Meta likely paced it: a first slice delivered, the rest held pending early block/report feedback. Healthy feedback releases the held messages automatically — usually within hours. Check the template's status in WhatsApp Manager before assuming a send failure.
What happens if a paced template gets bad feedback?
Meta pauses the template — initially for a short period, with longer pauses for repeat offences, and possible disabling for persistent problems. The WABA is notified, and held messages from the paused send are dropped, not retried. Revise the content and audience before resending.
