Loan EMI Reminder WhatsApp Templates
A loan EMI reminder is a message telling a borrower that their monthly instalment is due, with the amount, the date, and a tap-to-pay UPI link so they can clear it immediately. WhatsApp works far better than SMS or a call for this because the borrower can actually act on it in the same breath — and because a polite, private reminder preserves the relationship in a way a collections call does not. Send one before the due date, one on it, and one after.
Meta billing category
Templates on this page are typically approved as Utility, billed at ~₹0.115 per message (India).
Transactional — tied to an order, account, or appointment the customer already has. Cheapest category. Adding promotional lines risks Meta reclassifying it as Marketing at ~7.5x the cost.

1. Reminder before due date
Hi {{name}}, a gentle reminder from {{lender_name}}. Your EMI of ₹{{amount}} for loan {{loan_id}} is due on {{due_date}}. Pay in one tap via UPI: {{upi_link}} Already paid? Please ignore this message — and thank you.
Best for: 3 days before the due date. Most on-time payments come from this message.
2. Due today
Hi {{name}}, your EMI of ₹{{amount}} for loan {{loan_id}} is due today. Pay now via UPI: {{upi_link}} Other methods: {{payment_link}} Paying on time protects your credit score and avoids a late fee of ₹{{late_fee}}.
Best for: Morning of the due date, before banking hours close.
3. Auto-debit failed
Hi {{name}}, your auto-debit for EMI {{installment_number}} (₹{{amount}}) did not go through on {{attempt_date}} — usually this is just insufficient balance. Pay manually via UPI to avoid a late fee: {{upi_link}} We will retry the auto-debit on {{retry_date}}.
Best for: The day a NACH or e-mandate bounces. Fast, blame-free, and it usually works.
4. Overdue — supportive tone
Hello {{name}}, your EMI of ₹{{amount}} for loan {{loan_id}} is now {{days_overdue}} days overdue. Pay here: {{upi_link}} If you are facing difficulty this month, please reply — we would much rather restructure than escalate. Talking to us early keeps your options open.
Best for: 3–7 days overdue. The offer to talk recovers more than a threat does.
5. Payment received
Payment received, {{name}}. ✅ EMI {{installment_number}} of ₹{{amount}} for loan {{loan_id}} — credited on {{payment_date}}. Reference: {{payment_reference}} Remaining instalments: {{remaining_installments}} Next due: {{next_due_date}} Thank you. 🙏
Best for: Immediately on payment. Closing the loop stops the "did you get it?" call.
6. Loan fully repaid
Congratulations {{name}} — loan {{loan_id}} is fully repaid! 🎉 Final EMI received on {{payment_date}}. Nothing further is due. Your No-Objection Certificate is attached. Please keep it safe; you will need it if you ever want this loan removed from your credit report. Thank you for banking with {{lender_name}}.
Best for: Closure day. Sending the NOC unasked is a genuinely memorable piece of service.

Frequently asked questions
Is a loan EMI reminder a Utility or a Marketing template?
Utility. It relates to an existing loan account the borrower already holds, so Meta approves it under Utility at roughly ₹0.115 per message in India, against about ₹0.8631 for Marketing. Keep it strictly about the instalment — slipping a top-up loan offer into a reminder is exactly what gets the template reclassified as Marketing at roughly 7.5x the cost.
How many EMI reminders can I send before it becomes harassment?
A defensible cadence is three: one before the due date, one on it, and one a few days after. Beyond that, switch channel — a call from a human, not more template blasts. Repeated unanswered messages to a silent borrower drive blocks, and blocks damage the WhatsApp quality rating that governs your messaging limits across every customer you have.
Can I put the borrower's loan account number in the message?
Use a masked or partial reference, never the full account number. WhatsApp threads get read on unlocked phones, forwarded, and backed up to personal cloud accounts. A loan ID that identifies the account to the borrower without exposing it to anyone reading over their shoulder is both safer and entirely sufficient.
Related template sets
- Credit Card Payment Reminder WhatsApp TemplatesA credit card payment reminder tells the cardholder their statement is due, how much is owed, and what the minimum is — with a link to pay. The message that actually changes behaviour is the one that explains the cost of paying only the minimum, because most cardholders who revolve a balance have never seen that number stated plainly. Never include the full card number in any message.
- Late Fee Reminder WhatsApp TemplatesA late fee reminder tells a customer that a payment is overdue, what the late charge is, and what it will cost if it stays unpaid. The tone decides whether it works. Threats produce blocks and complaints; a clear statement of the arithmetic, plus a genuine offer to talk, recovers more money and keeps the customer. Always give them a way to pay in the same message.
- Deposit Received WhatsApp TemplatesA deposit received message confirms that money has landed — a payment, a salary credit, a fixed deposit booking, a refund. It is the simplest message in finance and one of the most valued, because the alternative is a customer refreshing their banking app in mild anxiety. Send it the moment the credit clears, with the reference number, and the "did it go through?" call never happens.
- Payment Reminder WhatsApp Templates (with UPI Links)A payment reminder on WhatsApp pairs a polite nudge with a tap-to-pay UPI link, so the customer can clear the due in under ten seconds without leaving the chat. Indian businesses recover dues 2–3x faster on WhatsApp than over email or SMS because the UPI deep link removes every step between "I should pay" and "paid". Send the first reminder gently, escalate tone only after the due date.
