Test Drive Booking WhatsApp Templates

A test-drive booking message confirms that a customer has a car booked to drive — the model, the date, the time, and where to turn up. WhatsApp beats a phone call here for a simple reason: car buyers do not answer calls from dealership numbers, but they do read WhatsApp, and they will happily pick a slot in a chat they can come back to later. Send the confirmation the moment the slot is booked, and put the showroom address in the message so nobody has to ring back for directions.

Meta billing category

Templates on this page are typically approved as Utility, billed at ~₹0.115 per message (India).

Transactional — tied to an order, account, or appointment the customer already has. Cheapest category. Adding promotional lines risks Meta reclassifying it as Marketing at ~7.5x the cost.

1. Test drive confirmed

Hi {{name}}, your test drive is confirmed. 🚗 Model: {{model_name}} {{variant_name}} Date: {{test_drive_date}} Time: {{test_drive_time}} 📍 {{dealership_name}}, {{showroom_address}} Please carry your driving licence — it is required by law before we hand over the keys. Your advisor: {{agent_name}}, {{agent_phone}}

Best for: The instant the slot is booked. The licence line prevents a wasted visit.

2. Slot options (customer picks)

Hi {{name}}, happy to arrange a test drive of the {{model_name}}. 🚗 Which suits you? 1️⃣ {{slot_one}} 2️⃣ {{slot_two}} 3️⃣ {{slot_three}} Just reply with a number and I will block it for you. {{agent_name}}, {{dealership_name}}

Best for: Enquiries where nobody has picked a time yet. A one-tap reply beats a call-back.

3. Home test drive

Hi {{name}}, we will bring the {{model_name}} to you. 🚗 Date: {{test_drive_date}} Time: {{test_drive_time}} Address: {{pickup_address}} {{agent_name}} will drive it over and will call you when he is 10 minutes away. Please keep your driving licence handy. Need to change the time? Just reply here.

Best for: Doorstep test drives. Removes the single biggest reason buyers never visit.

4. Rescheduled

Hi {{name}}, your test drive of the {{model_name}} has been moved. New date: {{test_drive_date}} New time: {{test_drive_time}} 📍 {{dealership_name}}, {{showroom_address}} Sorry for the change — the car was out on another drive. Does this work? Reply YES to confirm, or tell us a better time.

Best for: When the demo car is double-booked. Own the change before the customer arrives.

5. Booking amount received (demo of a premium model)

Received, {{name}}. ✅ ₹{{booking_amount}} towards the test drive booking of the {{model_name}} {{variant_name}} on {{test_drive_date}}. This amount is fully adjusted against your purchase, or refunded if you decide not to buy. Reference: {{booking_id}} See you at {{showroom_address}}.

Best for: Premium and imported models where a refundable slot fee is genuinely charged.

6. Did not turn up

Hi {{name}}, we kept the {{model_name}} ready for you on {{test_drive_date}} but did not see you — no problem at all, these things happen. The car is free again on {{slot_one}} and {{slot_two}}. Reply with either and it is yours for an hour. Or if the timing is simply wrong, tell me when suits and I will work around it. — {{agent_name}}

Best for: The day after a no-show. Blame-free, and it recovers a surprising number of buyers.

Frequently asked questions

Is a test-drive booking a Utility or a Marketing template?

Utility. The customer asked for the test drive, so the confirmation relates to a booking they already hold — Meta approves it under Utility at roughly ₹0.115 per message in India, against about ₹0.8631 for Marketing, a difference of around 7.5x. Keep it strictly about the drive. Slipping "and see our festive offers!" into the confirmation is precisely the thing that gets the template reclassified.

What should a test-drive confirmation always include?

Four things, and buyers notice when one is missing: the exact model and variant they are driving, the date and time, the showroom address as text they can tap into maps, and the reminder to carry a driving licence. The licence line is the one dealerships forget, and it is the reason a share of test drives collapse at the counter with an embarrassed customer and an idle car.

Should we ask for a booking amount before a test drive?

Only where it is genuinely justified — a premium or imported model, or a car that has to be moved between branches. For a mass-market hatchback it kills conversion outright. If you do charge it, say plainly in the message that it is adjusted against the purchase or refunded, and give a reference number. Silent, unexplained deposits are how a dealership acquires a reputation.
