A possession update tells a buyer where their under-construction home actually stands — the milestone reached, the revised or confirmed possession date, the dues payable, and when they get the keys. It is the message builders send least and buyers want most, because a family who has been paying EMIs on a flat they cannot live in is anxious by default and will believe silence means bad news. WhatsApp is right for it precisely because it is a running thread: the buyer can scroll back and see that you told them the truth each time.

Frequently asked questions

Is a possession update Utility or Marketing?

Utility. It concerns a property the buyer has already booked and is paying for, which is exactly Meta's definition of a transactional message — roughly ₹0.115 per message in India, against about ₹0.8631 for Marketing, a gap of roughly 7.5x. There is no reason to ever put a promotion in one. A buyer waiting on possession is not the person to whom you pitch a second project.

How should a construction delay be communicated?

Immediately, in plain language, with the reason and a revised date — and from you, before the buyer works it out for themselves. Buyers do not primarily punish delay; they punish being lied to about delay, and a builder who quietly lets the old date pass has told the buyer everything they need to know about how the next two years will go. A named person on a real phone number, offered in the same message, turns a complaint into a conversation.

Can I attach the Occupancy Certificate or allotment letter?

Yes — WhatsApp templates support a document header, so the OC, the possession letter, or the payment breakup rides along with the message. This is genuinely valuable here: these are documents buyers need years later, at registration or at resale, and a WhatsApp thread is somewhere they can actually find them again. Far more reliable than an email attachment from a builder they stopped following in 2024.
